Richard "Dick" Neiderhauser

Lion Dick Neiderhauser, PDG (left) is awarded the first Richard "Dick" Neiderhauser award for research into Age-related Macular Degeneration and allied retinal diseases.  Lion Dr. Larry Leguire, Scientific Chair of the Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation (OLERF), presented the award to Lion Dick at the meeting of the Evening Grove City LIONS club on November 11, 2009.  The OLERF established the award to direct research into the treatment and cure of Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD), one of the leading causes of blindness in adults over 50.  The award was named in recognition of Lion Dick's service to the OLERF over the past 27 years, first as Trustee and later as Executive Director and General Manager.  Lion Dick also has AMD and is slowly losing his sight.  The Evening Grove City LIONS club secured the award for Lion Dick in recognition of his life long commitment to Lionism and dedication to the OLERF.
