The Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation recently Awarded $137,200 for Eye Research and Student Fellowships
At a recent OLERF Board meeting, trustees of the Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation have made awards totaling $137,500 for eye research and student fellowships. Continuation eye research grants to six research centers in Ohio totaled $$97,200, four Bryan grants for diabetes related eye disease totaled $30,000 and student research fellowships (4) totaled $10,000. The six research centers in Ohio include:
- University of Cincinnati
- Wright State University (Dayton)
- OSU Department of Ophthalmology
- OSU College of Optometry
- Children’s Hospital (Columbus)
- Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland)
Four Bryan diabetes research grants were awarded:
- OSU Department of Ophthalmology
- OSU College of Optometry
- Children’s Hospital (Columbus)
- Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland)
Four student fellowships were awarded:
- OSU Department of Ophthalmology
- OSU College of Optometry
- Children’s Hospital (Columbus)
- Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland)
The funded research programs span a wide range of eye disease including amblyopia, river blindness, diabetic retinopathy, corneal dystrophies, cataract, age related macular degeneration, new treatments for refractive errors, optic nerve disease, glaucoma, gene therapy, lazy eye among many others.
