LIONS' Donations and Awards

Welcome Fellow LIONS Members

If you or your club would like to make a donation to the Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation, the designation of the donation to the right fund is very important.  The funds include:

Important club notice: Please write separate checks for Eye Research, Bryan and Fellowship donations. We use different bank accounts for each of these activities, and if the check has more than one type of donation adjustment checks from one account to another have to be written. This is not only confusing and prone to errors, but a comprehensive list of explanatory notes must be kept so the auditor will understand what happened at all steps in the process. So, please write separate checks for each fund contribution.  Also see in instructions for OLERF contributions at the bottom of this page.

Thank You

General Eye Research Fund

The General Eye Research Fund supports a diverse list of eye disease research topics (Go to List of Diseases).  These funds support many pilot projects in which investigators gather preliminary data on a specific eye disease.  This pilot data, in turn, is used to support and justify large grant submissions to federal agencies, such as the National Institutes of Health.  Pilot data obtained with support from the General Eye Research Fund has been responsible for eye researchers in Ohio obtaining millions of dollars in federal dollars for further eye research in Ohio.

Important Information

Please  write separate checks for Eye Research, Bryan and Fellowship donations.

In addition to designating the right fund, it is very important to give your club and district credit for the contribution.  So, whenever you or your club makes a contribution to the Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation, PLEASE put on the check:

  1. the fund name
  2. your club name
  3. your district.

Make the check out to the Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation.   All donations should be sent to your District OLERF Trustee or sent to the Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation:
