LIONS' Donations and Awards
If you or your club would like to make a donation to the Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation, the designation of the donation to the right fund is very important. The funds include:
Important club notice: Please write separate checks for Eye Research, Bryan and Fellowship donations. We use different bank accounts for each of these activities, and if the check has more than one type of donation adjustment checks from one account to another have to be written. This is not only confusing and prone to errors, but a comprehensive list of explanatory notes must be kept so the auditor will understand what happened at all steps in the process. So, please write separate checks for each fund contribution. Also see in instructions for OLERF contributions at the bottom of this page. Thank You
The General Eye Research Fund supports a diverse list of eye disease research topics (Go to List of Diseases). These funds support many pilot projects in which investigators gather preliminary data on a specific eye disease. This pilot data, in turn, is used to support and justify large grant submissions to federal agencies, such as the National Institutes of Health. Pilot data obtained with support from the General Eye Research Fund has been responsible for eye researchers in Ohio obtaining millions of dollars in federal dollars for further eye research in Ohio. Click this line to go to the new donation form page. There are four awards designated for the General Eye Research Fund: Founder's Award - Contribution of $2,500 or more within a given year to the General Eye Research Found.
Visionary Award - Contribution of $1,000 - $2,499 within a given year to the General Eye Research Found.
Leadership Award - Contribution of $500 - $999 within a given year to the General Eye Research Found.
